Diurnal enuresis is a type of incontinence that affects young children during their waking hours. The condition cannot be diagnosed unless the child is over five years old and is younger than sixteen. Diurnal enuresis is a very distressing condition for both the child and the parents.
There can be several reasons why a child develops diurnal enuresis. The first thing that needs to be medically established is whether the child has contracted a urinary infection. This involves the child providing a urine sample for testing. The doctor will also discuss family history, including toilet-training; bowel habits; and the regularity and nature of urinary stream.
As well as a urine infection, diurnal enuresis can also be caused by a brain hormone, known as antidiuretic hormone, not working properly. The presence of this hormone determines how much water can be held in the body. If the child has too little of this hormone being released into their body, their bladder may not be able to cope with the level of urine being stored.
Other things to consider if your child has developed diurnal enuresis is whether they have an overactive bladder – this is more common in girls and it can be a sign of infection. Quite often young children can become so caught up in an activity that they don’t want to stop to go to the toilet. They then leave it too late and this can result in their bladder overflowing before they make it to the toilet.
Discovering with your doctor what it is causing your child’s diurnal enuresis and working out how to help you and your child cope in this situation is crucial. It may be that a medical treatment isn’t necessary and many children do grow out of the condition. But whatever the treatment your child needs you. There is an estimated 75% chance of a child with diurnal enuresis having a parent or sibling who has previously had the same condition. If it also happened to you, share the information with your child so that they know they are not the only one.
There are many things you can do to help your child with diurnal enuresis. The most important thing is reassurance. Tell your child, and remind them often, that it isn’t their fault. Never allow their siblings to tease them. Recognise the warning signs: the child may start fidgeting or holding themselves in the perineal area. Encourage the child to go to the toilet and never punish them if they have an ‘accident’.
It is important to know that whatever is causing your child to have diurnal enuresis, it is not the child’s fault. The child isn’t being lazy or naughty – it is a condition that they have no control over. While emotional stress does not cause diurnal enuresis, a result of having diurnal enuresis can lead to the child having emotional stress and losing self-esteem. Avoid this happening to your child.

One of the touted advantages of owning a corporation is the ease in transferring shares. In many cases, this assumed benefit is simply wrong.
Transfer Shares
According to experts, using a corporation has one bid advantage over other entities. The advantage is the ability to freely transfer shares without impacting the business or viability of the corporate structure. Consider the following example.
If I own a 60 percent interest in a general partnership, I cant just sell it to someone else. In most states, the transfer of more than 50 percent of an interest in a partnership automatically terminates it. With a corporation, however, there is no such prohibition.
Instead, I am free to transfer shares without restriction and the business just purrs along without any interruption.
As with many assumptions, the free transferability assumption runs into problems in the real world. This is particularly true if the corporation has entered into contracts with other large companies.
Accidentally Terminating Contracts
State laws govern the formation and running of most business entities. These laws, however, do not trump general contract law. Instead, deference is given to the terms two or more parties agree upon in the formation of a contract and this is where the free transferability experts fall on their faces.
In our modern economy, a majority of companies will require language in a contract stating that any transfer of more than xxx percentage of shares automatically voids the contract between the parties. The reason for this is parties want to know whom they are doing business with at all times. Assume I want to do business with a corporation that has three engineers who are the best in their field. I dont want to sign a five-year contract with them only to see the three engineers sell their shares and leave the company during the term of the contract. In requiring the language restricting share transfers, I am making sure I will benefit from their expertise.
Many shareholders in small businesses fail to take into account share restriction language in contracts. Instead, they go out and sell their shares to a third party with dreams of retirement on a white beach somewhere. They are more than a little surprised when served with a lawsuit by the share buyer who is angry because a number of contracts for the corporation have been terminated. In Seinfeld terminology, No white beaches FOR YOU!
Before you get excited about selling your shares in a corporation make sure you check the language of all contracts with third parties. You dont want to have to come back from that white beach.

The sport of model airplane combat has been around now for decades and in recent years has grown exponentially. The human race is naturally competitive and it’s only natural that modelers are going to find a way to pit their flying skills against each other.
In combat, competitors tie a lengthy streamer to the rear of their model, and take to the skies in an attempt to cut their opponents streamer with their propeller or wing. Category after category has been created to allow all sorts of planes to enter combat. What used to be reserved for balsa and ply-wood built planes has now expanded to allow for much more durable RC model airplanes that are even capable of surviving mid-air collisions (sometimes!).
Balsa, Foam, and SPAD model airplanes all take to the skies to see who is Top Dog. Combat clubs can be found in just about every country on the planet. The two largest RC model airplane combat associations are the Radio Control Combat Association (RCCA) and the National Sports Combat Club (NSCC).
Just about every model airplane combat group has one thing in common. Your model airplane and you competitor’s must both fall into the same category to make the combat fair. A few examples of these classes are; Slow Survivable Combat (SSC), Open Classes, and Scale. Each of these classes have strict requirements about the size of the engine used, the overall weight of the aircraft, the size of the prop, and in some cases even the shape of the fuselage must conform to the rules.
At one time model airplane combat got pretty fast and furious with high speeds and a high attrition rate as planes ploughed into each other and into the ground. The Slow Surviveable Class was developed to counter this tendency and the rules produce a big, slow flying airplane without an excess of power. As a result, this class is much more suitable for beginners, the models survive much better and can often be used for other forms of flying.
When fighting in the SSC class, a single round of combat lasts 5 minutes. You must have a .15 engine and your airplane is required to weigh no less than 2.5 pounds. There are no restrictions on your airplane’s wingspan, but the overall wing area must be at least 400 square inches. All combating RC model airplanes use an unmodified Master Airscrew 8×3 prop and the maximum allowable RPM is 17,500rpm at launch. RPM testing is often performed before combat starts to make sure everyone is conforming to the rules.
The other classes of combat, Open Classes and Scale, all have different rules and restrictions regarding weight, engine, and appearance but the objective of all of them is to ensure that it is the skill of the pilot that is being tested and not the airplane.
What all of these classes do have in common is some sort of point system. Combat contestants earn points for things such as cutting their opponents streamers, continuous flying during combat, launching within the set time limit, as well as points for every foot of streamer left when landing. Points can also be deducted for not engaging an opponent in combat. Pilots that avoid fights will be penalized. If your model airplane crosses various safety lines which define the combat area this will also earn penalty deductions.
Model airplane combat whether RC or Control Line can add a very exciting element to an already enjoyable hobby. So what’s holding you back? Give it a try, inquire with other flyers at your local flying field. Large combat associations might have strict rules, but feel free to make up your own when you set out pit your model airplane flying skills against your friends.

The number of overweight children is growing at such an alarming rate. In a nutshell, children today are now spending less time playing outside and exercising, therefore having more time in front of the television, computer, or video game consoles. A normal family today may have less free time to prepare nutritious, home cooked meals for the day. This situation is further worsened by the hectic schedules and high-pressure demands of work and school. Being quick and easy now seems to be the mindset of people, both young and old.

Born in New Orleans on March 24, 1976, Peyton Manning is the son of legendary New Orleans quarterback Archie Manning and Olivia Manning. While Peyton attended high school, Archie was the color commentator for the New Orleans Saints radio station. As a youngster, Peyton would occasionally visit off-season practices with his dad. On one occasion, then Saints coach Jim Mora, allowed Peyton to work out and toss some passes to the Saints receivers. Even more unbelievable than a high school student practicing with NFL receivers is the fact that he fit in perfectly at such a young age. While attending Isidore Newman High School, Manning served as quarterback during all 3 years. At the end of his senior season, Peyton Manning was the top recruited quarterback in the nation and was named as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year.
Following high school graduation, Manning decided to attend the University of Tennessee where he, once again, became a star quarterback for the team. While proving his skills on the field, Peyton Manning proved that he had equal skills in the classroom. Earning a BA in speech communication and graduating with honors was important to Manning, which is why he decided to put his football career on hold until he earned his degree.
As 1998 rolled around, Manning became a candidate for the NFL draft. The Indianapolis Colts welcomed Peyton Manning as their first pick in the draft and, as they say, the rest is history. Today, Peyton Manning is the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts where he has remained since his rookie season in the NFL.
On October 29, 2005, Mannings #16 University of Tennessee player number was retired as he, his mom, dad and wife were on hand along with a capacity crowd prior to the University of Tennessee Volunteers game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Everyone at Neyland Stadium watched as Mannings number was unveiled in the endzone. From 1994 to 1997, Peyton Manning played at the University of Tennessee where he broke nearly every passing record and led the team to 39 victories. Prior to the game, Peytons PeyBack Foundation held a fundraiser, which raised over $12,000.00 to be used for funding grants and events involving disadvantaged youth in Knoxville.
On Friday, February 3, 2006, Peyton Manning was recognized as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. This award was named in recognition of the legendary Chicago Bears running back, Walter Payton, who passed away in 1999. This award is the only one in the league to recognize a players off-the-field community service in addition to his playing excellence. Connie Payton, the wife of Walter Payton, proudly presented the award. Fans around the nation celebrate Mannings accomplishments and achievements in football and in life.

Much folklore about dragons was believed throughout time. In Egyptian mythology, the god of the underworld, Osiris, is sometimes represented by a dragon. In Greek mythology, dragons are always guarding something or eating someone. In European mythology, a dragon is a serpent-like legendary creature. In both Eastern and Western mythology, the dragon is believed to be responsible for eclipses.
In Bulgarian legend, dragons are three headed, winged beings with snake’s bodies. There is also a white dragon, which according to legend can transform into a bird called O-Goncho. The dragon also plays a vital role in Arthurian legend.
In Romanian folklore, even the snake, which in certain conditions, has the ability to turn into a dragon, has a strong malefic meaning. The ancient Greeks and Romans, who revered dragons for their wisdom but feared them for their tremendous powers, shared this belief. Similarly, in the Babylonian creation myth, Tiamat the embodiment of chaos is portrayed as a terrible dragon. This myth is almost as hard to kill as the dragon itself was. For this reason, the dragon symbol is the sign of authority, often being worn on the robes of the Imperial family and nobility.
Dragons have long been considered evil, maiden-stealing, village destroying, fire-breathing beasts. This lead to many brave knights attempting to hunt down and slay dragons, as recounted in many medieval writings. When knights began inventing stories about them defeating such dragons, the dragon and knighthood peak was reached.
Almost every country in the world as some sort of dragon story. Legends and myths are filled with stories of dragons. In European mythology, a dragon is a serpent-like legendary creature. In many legends dragons personify evil, and are vicious beasts who live to wreak havoc and must be pacified by human sacrifice. One of the most feared monsters of the Greeks and Romans was the Hydra, a dragon with multiple heads and poisonous breath.
In fairy tales and in medieval poetry in the Western world dragons are dangerous, untrustworthy creatures. Medieval people liked to scare each other with dragons. All peopel are drawn by the dragon’s aura of mystery, its ancient magic, its nobility; its awesome might and power.

2005 Overview:
Most Florida Marlins fans never expected another repeat of the 1997 season when management completely gutted the World Champion Marlins but that is exactly what happened during the 2005 off season. Despite finishing tied with the Mets for 3rd place with an 83-79 record, Florida decided it needed to dramatically reduce payroll in the hopes of focusing on a new stadium plan. In just 12 short days between November 24-December 7 the Marlins dumped millions off their payroll by moving six everyday starting position players, two frontline pitchers, a closer and a setup reliever. When the dust finally settled only superstars Miguel Cabrera (.323 33 116) and Dontrelle Willis (22-10 2.63) remained.
The 2005 offense was led by Cabrera who posted almost identical numbers to his 2004 season ending totals. Cabrera was joined by newly acquired 1st baseman Carlos Delgado (.301 33 115) and outfielder Juan Encarnacion (.287 16 76) while pesky leadoff hitter Juan Pierre (.276 in 162 games with 57 stolen bases), 3rd baseman Mike Lowell (.236 8 58) and newly signed catcher Paul Lo Duca (.283 6 57) rounded out the rest of the starting lineup.
Willis simply dominated in 2005 by starting the season off with a 5-0 record with a 1.29 ERA. Dontrelle managed to enter the all star break with an impressive 13-4 record and 2.39 ERA. Starters Josh Beckett (15-8 3.37), A.J. Burnett (12-12 3.44) and newly acquired Brian Moehler (6-12 4.55) joined reliever Todd Jones (1-5 2.10 40 saves in 45 save opportunities) to complete the rotation.
Off Season Moves:
New appointed manager Joe Girardi and be surrounded by fresh, new faces in his 2006 debut. Hanley Ramirez is a top rookie prospect who was obtained in the Beckett trade from Boston, Ramirez has only played in two major league games and spent most of the 2005 season at AAA, where he batted .271 with six home runs, 52 RBI, and 26 stolen bases. Baseball America ranks Ramirez 10th on the Top 100 prospect list and he will likely get the starting shortstop position moving Cabrera to third base, his natural position.
The Marlins are also excited about outfielder Jeremy Hermida, who was the team’s first-round pick in the 2002 draft as well as Eric Reed and Chris Aguila who are expected to get consideration in center and left field. Former New York Met Mike Jacobs (.310, 11 home runs in 30 games), obtained in the Delgado deal, and Wes Helms (.298 4 HRS in 2005) are expected to platoon at first base, while Josh Wilson (.257 17 82 in 143 games at Triple A Albuquerque in 2005) will compete for the starting job at second base.
2006 Analysis:
The Marlins will start 2006 with a bunch of fresh new faces. The fire sale provided the team with a bunch of untested talent which will make the 2006 roster look more like a AAA minor league team then anything else. New Manager Girardi will need to carefully evaluate who is ready to step into a full time role the team. Starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis is coming off his best year ever, so he will be expected to shoulder the load once again with Yusmeiro Petit, Sergio Mitre, Jason Vargas, Anibel Sanchez, Josh Johnson and Scott Olsen all getting consideration for a slot in the starting rotation. Scouts have recognized Johnson as a No. 2 starter and Olsen, a lefthander, is also highly regarded.

The most widely held misconception about bankruptcy is that its the debtors version of the get out of jail free card in Monopoly. While most people know that bankruptcy affects your credit for 7 to 10 years, very few people know that its possible that youll have to pay back the debt anyway, even if you file a Chapter 7 straight bankruptcy. The formal definition of bankruptcy is a proceeding in federal court in which an insolvent debtors assets are liquidated and the debtor is relieved of further liability. On the other hand, the commonplace definition of bankruptcy is probably the process of completely wiping out your debts for free. In the majority of cases, the latter definition may be appropriate, but in some scenarios, its likely that even with bankruptcy, youll still have to pay back at least a portion of the debt.

You’ve decided that you’re going to try quitting smoking. You know it will be tough but you’ve made that all important decision – you want to stop smoking and you want some help to do it.
You can try herbal remedies, unfortunately, these can give some people a queasy stomach. Then there are the popular nicotine replacement treatments, readily available as patches, gum or sprays.
If these don’t work then some people look for other alternatives like acupuncture or hypnosis to help them quit smoking. There has been lots already written about this last technique and you’re probably wondering is hypnosis effective for quitting smoking… does it actually work?
As with everything in life for some hypnosis will work for others it won’t – everybody is an individual with particular needs and habits. As a general rule of thumb though, just because something works for you doesn’t necessarily work for everybody else.
Seriously, how can some comedy carnival sideshow help you when quitting smoking?
Well, hypnotherapy is now highly regarded and a widely recognised psychotherapy tool. It is a tried and trusted scientific method in it’s own right and there are many who have tried hypnotism and swear that hypnosis is an effective technique for quitting smoking.
In simple terms, under hypnosis you are functioning on a conscious level, but your subconscious mind will lapse into a serene, tranquil state and your body completely relaxes.
It is this level of managed relaxation that a hypnotist will try to help you achieve so they can condition your subconscious mind with directed suggestion, which in this case is quitting smoking.
But, of course there will be some people who have tried hypnosis and who still continue smoking.
You may think hypnosis is a silly idea. But consider, if you really are serious about quitting smoking and everything else you have tried so far has failed – what have you got to lose by giving it a try?
Here are a couple of handy tips that you might find useful if you do decide to try hypnotism to quit smoking ?
Check that your chosen hypnotist is certified in their chosen field. For instance, the National Board for Certified Hypnotherapists has a high level of criteria and requirements for applicants to meet before certification is authorised.
Find out about the hypnotherapy being offered. Ask if they recommend a single session or a course containing a series of sessions. Also ask what they hope to achieve in the sessions.
Being realistic, quitting smoking successfully will need you to make big changes to your behavior patterns and your general lifestyle… that will usually take a series of hypnosis sessions to help you achieve this.
As a general rule hypnosis is not a quick fix solution to quitting smoking. It’s definitely no cure-all and you’ll need to work on dealing with and overcoming your cravings but, with that said, it could help you in your efforts to lead a smoke-free life.
Is hypnosis effective for quitting smoking? All things considered, only you can answer that…

The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood about the relationship between satellite television and Internet.television. However, the most important thing is to read with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.
What Is Satellite Television?
Satellite television refers to television service beamed to subscribers via orbiting communications satellites high above earth from a distance of between – 22, 000 to 37, 000 miles making it possible for television programs to reach wider areas than was possible with either the traditional terrestrial or cable television which out reach was hampered by earth’s curvature and distance.
When Was The First Satellite Television Aired?
It was in 1962 that the very first television signal was up linked from Europe on to the Telstra satellite and beamed over North America. Anik1 was the first domestic North American satellite launched in 1973 in Canada.
How Does Satellite Television Work?
Well, without going technical, it will interest you to note that the television signals you receive from communications satellites are really first sent up from ground stations via very big (9 – 12 meters) dishes to an orbiting satellite that in turn beams the signals down to earth and on to your receiver’s parabolic dish’s focal point and a LNB or low noise blocker component converts ands send the signals to your decoder box where the final conversion is done to the signals so that it becomes the sound and pictures you watch.
There are also different brands of mobile none parabolic dish receivers for use in vehicles and other mobile platforms. In this case satellite television signals are received with a satellite antenna and directed through a satellite decoder box and an oscillator converts it to L-band range of frequencies that an on-board electronics finally converts to the standard frequency usable by normal television sets.
What Is A TVRO?
Television Receive Only or TVRO is the forerunner of satellite television viewing at home. The very big dish size, about 3 – 6 feet, required to run C-Band frequencies of about four G Hertz meant that not most people could own it due to the very exorbitant cost of installing one, and the space for installation.
One other hassle with TVRO is that the big dish has to be moveable to keep track of more satellite, because C-Band satellites carry less channels than KU-band satellites. This dish movement, however makes it possible to receive free channels and feeds or even unedited C-Band news material being sent to headquarters by field correspondence or a news crew, they are usually not scrambled.
What Is Direct Broadcast Satellite Or DBS And What Makes It Better Than TVRO?
Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to the future of satellite TV vis a vis Internet television software than you may have first thought.
DBS is satellite TV broadcast thorough Ku-Band satellites that work on higher frequencies with stronger signals than C-Band or TVRO, which makes it possible for you to install smaller dishes for receiving their signals.
People who live high up on apartment buildings favor the DBS since installing an 18 inches dish up there is possible. Another advantage of the DBS over TVRO is that the dish is stationary needing no maintenance plus, the installation is free in most cases.
This is made possible because DBS television satellites are usually in geosynchronous orbit that is stationary in the sky relative to the Earth, because each satellite is launched into space at around 7,000 mph to settle at around 22,200 miles above the Earth.
With this speed and height, the satellite revolves around the earth once every 24 hours in juxtaposition with Earth’s own rotation. This is what makes it possible for your 18 inches dish to remain in a fixed position with the satellite without requiring adjustment.
What is Internet Television and Is It Better than Direct Broadcast Satellite?
Internet television as the name implies refers to Television programs streamed onto a PC or Laptop through the Internet. There are different types of Internet television services. Some of them are recorded rebroadcasts while others are live broadcasts made possible with ingenious software. You can connect to thousands of satellite television services simultaneously. A wide range of viewing choices – unlimited TV shows, Movies, Sports, Soaps and more.
You don’t need any hardware such as decoder, wire, dish or antenna making. You can watch your favorite programs, even outdoors, from all over the world, so long as you have internet connection. Internet television is just a hassle free way of watching a lot more numbers of satellite TV programs and channels free of monthly satellite television subscription fees.
What Is The Future Of Satellite TV Vis A Vis Internet Television?
What would be the future of Satellite Television depends on several factors: For instance, even before the advent of Internet television satellite television companies did not depend on subscription fees for their survival.
Advertising pays a big chunk of the bill for you to watch satellite television even at the present rate you might consider very exorbitant
License fees are another way through which satellite television services are sustained. For instance, If you are in the UK and you have equipment that is capable of receiving TV signals then the law states you must pay for a TV license.
Today, there already exist broadcasters who use only advertising to pay for their service and so allow viewers free viewing of their programs, so in my opinion watching satellite television programs free on your PC or Laptop will not kill satellite television, rather Internet television will increase the number of viewers for satellite television services and lead to more and better priced advertising charges.
Of course, it’s impossible to put everything about the future of satellite TV vis a vis Internet television software into just one article. But you can’t deny that you’ve just added to your understanding about the future of satellite TV vis a vis Internet television software, and that’s time well spent.

Over the last month a new website created by 21 year old student (Alex Tew) has had a phenomenal impact on the internet advertising world. You may have heard of milliondollarhomepage.com. If not, it is a very simple concept for online advertising. Advertisers can buy pixels on the homepage for $1 a pixel. The minimum order is 100 pixels and with this the advertiser gets a small image that links from the Milliondollarhomepage to the advertisers site.
Now this alone isnt what made the site successful. Granted its a unique twist on internet advertising, but lets be honest its hardly remarkable. People have been selling spaces for banners on websites for years. For this site to be successful it needed one key ingredient, and that is traffic. Hundreds of thousands of people needed to visit this site to give the advertisers value for money.
So the young student who came up with the idea submitted a press release, and sold a story like any good marketer would. How he was only 21 and came up with this simple website to pay his way through university. Fortunately for him the worlds press found his release and published it, as it was a good story. This meant more people visited the site, and the website traffic increased. In turn more journalists picked up on the story and published it. The result was a viral explosion in traffic which meant many people bought advertising space and it is fair to say the site has been highly successful.
So is this the new advertising medium of the internet? I am afraid this author doesnt believe so. Once the hype starts to die down, and the story is no longer new, the press will begin to publish fewer articles on it, and less people will visit the site. This in turn will lead to even fewer articles being published in the worlds press, leading to even fewer visitors. This cycle will continue and what originally made this website successful (viral marketing) will ultimately lead to its death.
What can internet marketers learn from this? The best way to promote any new internet venture is to make an interesting story about it, submit articles and press releases, and if the story is good enough, watch the viral explosion in visitors.
Of course for long term growth the new site or service has to be good enough to provide value to visitors, and not just a fad that captures peoples short term interest. I wish Alex Tew all the best, but I think he too will accept that this is not a long term business that can go anywhere from here.

Saratoga Springs has been attracting travelers even before the American Revolution when wealthy pilgrims journeyed to the carbonated mineral springs running through the area.
Its where decisive battles were fought during the American Revolution and Civil War. The 1777 Battle of Saratoga, considered the first Colonial victory and a turning point in the Revolutionary War, ended with General John Burgoyne surrendering his British troops.
During the Civil War, Americas oldest thoroughbred racetrack opened on Aug. 26, 1863. The Saratoga Racing Association bought 71 acres to other land already set for racing. On Aug. 1, 1864, a new course was established in almost the same spot as todays Saratoga.
New York Racing Association (NYRA) officials have announced across-the-board purse increases for the 36-day meeting than opens July 26. All classes of races will receive increases, said Bill Nader, NYRA senior vice president.
There are a lot of changes on this schedule, including some purse reductions or eliminations of stakes, but we made sure that NYRAs commitment to excellence remains intact, he said. The overall dollar reduction in stakes is nearly $4 million, but much of that money will be added back in overnight stakes.
This helps NYRA strike a better balance with dollars allocated to stakes and overnight races, and be more responsive to the available horse inventory from meet to meet.
While the NYRA usually boosts purses each year at Saratoga, Nader said, this year the increases are much more robust.
Overnight stakes will carry purses of $70,000, a hike of $5,000. New York-bred races will see sizable increases compared with the current Belmont meeting. Maiden special weight races will jump $6,000 to $47,000 while purses in first-level allowance contests will skyrocket $9,000 to $50,000.
The NYRA will also continue to raise the purse of any race with at least eight horses thats moved off the turf by 20 percent in hopes of deterring scratches, a policy launched this year at Belmont.
The prestigious $500,000 Woodward for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles was moved to Saratoga on Sept. 2 to spread out the more important handicap races. The Saratoga Breeders Cup Handicap was eliminated to make room for one of the 15 Grade 1 events included in the array of 47 stakes.
Theres at least one stakes on every live racing program and two on eight days during the meeting that ends Sept. 4.
For handicap horses, the summer/fall schedule from Saratoga through Belmont Parks meeting, including the 52nd Woodward, features the $750,000 Whitney at 1 1/8 miles on Aug. 5 at Saratoga and the $750,000 Jockey Gold Cup at 1 miles on Oct. 7 at Belmont.
We placed four Grade 1 stakes on Labor Day Weekend, Nader pointed out. We also brought back the full compliment of two-year-old stakes to give the younger stars of our sport every opportunity to succeed.
Highlight of the meeting is the 137th Travers, oldest American stakes race named for the founder of Saratoga. The $1 million contest at 1 miles honoring William R. Travers will feature the outstanding sophomores of 06 and help decide top 3-year-old honors.
Expected to show up on Aug. 26 at the historic track 180 miles north of New York City are:
Bernardini, winner of the Preakness; Jazil, who captured the Belmont; Bluegrass Cat, runner-up in the Kentucky Derby behind injured Barbaro and second in the Belmont; Steppenwolfer, third at Churchill Downs and fourth in the Belmont; and Sunriver, third in the Belmont.
Kentucky, owned by Travers, won the inaugural running in 1864 when the purse was only $2,940. The fastest time was posted by General Assembly in 1979: two minutes flat.
The largest margin of victory was recorded in 67 by Damascus: 22 lengths. Seven times a nose separated the top two finishers.

Search, Search, Search, that’s all that people are talking about today. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are competing with each other to try to be the number one search engine. Why? Because the number one search engine gets huge amounts of traffic and traffic equals revenue. Whether it is from ads or from services they can market, search engines stand much to gain from ‘being number one’.
But do the search engines as they stand today fit the demands and requirements of the next generation of internet users?
As the internet grows and the amount of information on it becomes so immense that for every simple search you get thousands of results, the efficiency of the search engine goes down. The search algorithms spend most of their time and computational resources trying to eliminate spam. As a result they can barely keep up with the load of information, let alone sort it in an efficient and intelligent way. So what happens to us, the end user, is that we don’t get what we are really looking for. Now it takes longer to search through the search results than it takes to actually read the information being searched for.
Search engines must migrate to more intelligent ways of sorting data and handling search queries in order to keep up with the new generation of internet users, who are already finding alternatives to search because of lack of satisfaction. Blog communities, forums and other alternatives to search engines are becoming more and more popular these days, mainly because the search engines aren’t as good as they should be and it is hard to find information searching on them.
An understanding of the information written on the web page and the query typed into the search box would help the search engines better themselves in every aspect of the process. The understanding of the information on the web page will enable the search algorithm to sort the page appropriately. Understanding the query can help the search engine supply more accurate results to the user being that the search engine knows what the user is looking for, not only the words the user entered in the query. An added bonus the search engine would get from understanding the query is that the ad engine can put more relevant ads on the page and hence greatly increase the advertising revenue.
Even some of the most basic elements of understanding are lacking in today’s search algorithms. None of the search engines on the web today can resolve even the most basic ambiguity or understand other basic language elements like negation (not, besides, without etc..). Breaking the sentence down to its basic meaning would allow the algorithm to handle negation, and even more difficult tasks such as understanding a question placed in the search box.
For example, if a user searches for this: “I really need a cheap car that gives good gas mileage” an intelligent, understanding robot would be able to understand that the user is not looking for the words that describe the query, and only search for “cheap car, good gas mileage” and omit the words “I really need a” and “that gives” from the search query. Not only that, if the search engine is intelligent and has a knowledge base behind it, it will be able to know which cars are cheap and give good gas mileage and return those results, not limiting the results to the pages containing the words “cheap car, good gas mileage”.
Most of the technologies needed to enable the above mentioned features have been around for a long time, but have not come to good use due to the lack of a strong syntactic engine. Linguistic Agents Ltd (LA), in Jerusalem Israel has developed such an engine that can enable all of these features plus many more. The technologies LA has created break the sentence down into a basic predicate/argument structure allowing the computer to extract the meaning of the sentence from the resulting output. These technologies use the latest advancements in theoretical linguistics and breaks the sentence down to its basic meaning almost in the same way that the brain breaks down the meaning of a sentence. This advanced level of understanding allows for extremely intelligent computation including, but not limited to, the intelligent search examples listed above.
Imagine a new age of computation where computers understand what they are told. All of this is made possible by LA’s advanced algorithms. Not only are these algorithms extremely advanced, they are also very light weight. The entire Intelligence Engine is so small it can be imbedded in client side Flash movies or even in AJAX applications. This would allow the search engines to parse the query and extract the core meaning and only then transmit the query to the server, saving valuable resources.
Things are going to change as we move to more intelligent applications and “Go Beyond Search”.

Doctors have known for a long time that diet affects gout, a specific type of arthritic condition, however the jury remained out for a long time on other common types of arthritis such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. However, overall dietary health is important and does come into play.
Being overweight can affect certain arthritic conditions, forcing some joints to carry more of a load. This added weight stresses the joints, causing overuse or more wear to components, and pain, especially in the knees. So making sure arthritic sufferers eat god foods and get help from healthcare providers to create and follow a well-balanced dietary plan is advised.
To begin, here is a look at some vitamins, minerals, nutrients / foods and some herbal applications to consider.
VITAMINS
Vitamin B5 When grouped and tanked together, B vitamins work at their peak. They, and B5 specifically, are good for reducing swelling.
Vitamin B3 This vitamin reduces tissue swelling and dilates small arteries, increasing blood flow. Note that Vitamin B3 is NOT advised for persons with high blood pressure, gout or sliver disorders.
Vitamin B6 Another B that reduces tissue swelling.
Vitamin B12 This vitamin aids in multiple functions. It helps with cell formation, digestion, myelin production, nerve protection.
Vitamin C – This vitamin acts as an anti-inflammatory, relieving pain, and rids the body of free radicals.
Vitamin E This is a strong antioxidant that protects joints from free radicals while increases joint flexibility.
Vitamin K This vitamin assists with mineral deposit into the bone matrix.
MINERALS
Boron This trace mineral aids in bone health.
Calcium This is a much-needed mineral for bone health.
Magnesium Magnesium helps keep calcium in balance within the system.
Zinc This mineral is necessary for bone growth, but is often lacking in arthritic patients.
Manganese Manganese is also necessary for bone growth. However, do not ingest manganese with calcium because they can work against each other.
Copper Copper helps to strengthen connective tissue.
Germanium This antioxidant helps with pain relief.
Sulfur A lack of sulfur can result in deterioration of ligaments, cartilage, collagen and tendons.
NUTRIENT COMBOS
Chondroitin Sulfate This lubrication in joints, joint fluid and connective tissue, can be found in the sea cucumber.
Gelatin Help with raw cartilage replenishing with this cheap source.
Glucosamine Sulfate This combo is necessary for tendon, ligament, bone, cartilage, and synovial (joint) fluid formation.
Quercetin This helps with inflammation reduction.
Type II Collagen Use this for growth and repair of joints, articular cartilage and connective tissue.
Arthritic Diets And Nutritional Healing
There are many factors to consider with regards to arthritic diets and nutritional healing, and each factor may not apply to each individual. For example, certain people are allergic to specific foods, and these allergies can indeed worsen arthritic conditions. Ingesting foods that contain sodium nitrate or tartrazine can inflame rheumatoid arthritis, while ingesting foods containing a substance called hydrazine can contribute to systemic lupus erythematosus, an arthritic condition connected to lupus.
There is a rare type of arthritis called Behcet’s Disease, and eating black walnuts can cause flare-ups in people with this rare condition. So as you see, there is a variety of arthritic conditions and along with them a variety of foods that may trigger them. The best way to approach the situation is to examine each arthritic condition and tailor ones approach based upon the specifics.
The term arthritis covers over 100 different diseases and conditions. Since it would be impossible to cover all of them in a work such as this, we will look at the most common conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and gout. There is a prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers that have an abnormally low blood zinc level. Several independent studies have been conducted where rheumatoid arthritis patients have been given increased doses of zinc and showed marginal improvement, yet the tests were not extensive enough to be conclusive.
The effects of copper on rheumatoid arthritis have been studied for a long time, and although results vary there seems to be some case for using copper to improve the condition, although this therapy has been dismissed by most of the medical profession as relatively ineffective. Copper therapy is not discouraged however when approached from food sources, and may work on some individuals. It is suggested that if you do attempt copper therapy, that copper-rich foods are utilized instead of copper supplements, because copper supplements can cause side effects which include change in sense of taste and smell, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abnormal blood clots, increased joint pain, chills, anemia and kidney problems, and excess copper can cause cirrhosis of the liver in patients prone to Wilsons Disease.
Check with your doctor to be sure you are not prone to storing excess copper in your body. There is an extensive choice of foods you can enjoy in order to increase your copper intake: lamb; pork; pheasant quail; duck; goose; squid; salmon; organ meats including liver, heart, kidney, brain; shellfish including oysters, scallops, shrimp, lobster, clams, and crab; meat gelatin; soy protein meat substitutes; tofu; nuts and seeds; chocolate milk; soy milk; cocoa are just a few of the foods that are rich in copper.
As for foods to avoid when suffering with rheumatoid arthritis, many nutritionists and naturopaths suggest avoiding dairy products all together, as they seem to exacerbate rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups. Because of the risk in overdosing, one should be discouraged from taking doses of vitamins that are higher than recommended without a physicians direction. Some vitamins and minerals can actually worsen certain conditions, and the concentration that can be attained through vitamins can be dangerous. It is much better to approach any desired increase in vitamin or mineral intake through food therapy.
There has been some success with the food supplements glucosamine and chondroitin in relieving symptoms of pain and stiffness for some persons with osteoarthritis. These supplements can be found in pharmacies and health food stores, however the purity of the products or the dose of the active ingredients cannot be specified because the FDA does not monitor these supplements. The National Institutes of Health is studying glucosamine and chondroitin, so more should be known about the effectiveness of these products for osteoarthritis in the near future. Patients with osteoarthritis taking blood-thinners should be careful taking chondroitin as it can increase the blood-thinning and cause excessive bleeding.
Fish oil supplements have been shown to have some anti-inflammation properties and increasing the dietary fish intake and/or fish oil capsules (omega 3 capsules) can sometimes reduce inflammation of arthritis. With osteoarthritis there is also the concern with deterioration of cartilage; therefore those with osteoarthritis should avoid large doses of Vitamin-A, since there is some evidence that it contributes to cartilage deterioration.
In the case of fibromyalgia, although clinical proof is once again sparse, there is a great deal of personal experiences of improvement of this condition when certain dietary practices are followed. Eliminating wheat, dairy, citrus, sugar, Aspertame, alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco seem to be universal in those that have had success with treating the illness through dietary means. According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, author of The Total Health Program, nine of ten sufferers of fibromyalgia are female, and 76% of those who followed suggested dietary rules experienced a significant reduction in pain.
The thing to keep in mind with fibromyalgia is that, unlike the other common arthritis ailments, it is more of a syndrome than a disease, and much of it can be reversed. Making corrections to diet as well as reducing stress and getting plenty of rest can lead to a full recovery.

Meditation, quite rightly, has an image of relaxation, peace and quiet, and many may interpret this as meaning meditation can only be for those who have time to laze around half the day. For this reason, those people, such as business executives, who live a pressured life with little or no time to spare, may assume that meditation can never have a place in their lives. That is a shame, as meditation techniques can be quite flexible and quite easy to fit in to a busy day.
The benefits of meditation can be so great to somebody under pressure, that even a few minutes occasionally may bring a noticeable benefit. For a busy executive to have reached their position in life, they are likely to be determined and intelligent individuals. This can often mean that, should they perceive a benefit in an activity, then they will continue or extend that activity. It is therefore possible that an executive trying out even a brief period of meditation may soon adopt some meditation technique or other on a regular basis.
What type of meditation techniques may fit in with an executive lifestyle? Important features of meditation are being able to breathe well and consciously, relax and clear the mind, and then focus the mind. An executive with perpetual meetings and a full diary, with pressures to perform and maximise profits, may think such things cannot be fitted into their busy lives.
It is true to say that the most powerful and beneficial meditation sessions are prolonged. However, that does not mean short periods of meditation are a waste of time; far from it. An executive is probably geared up to packing as much into their day as possible and, although it may be difficult to clear a hyperactive mind, they may well learn to pack in short meditation sessions also. In so doing, they may well find that those sessions give them a boost that is far greater and more beneficial than caffeine.
So, what techniques can an executive use during their busy day? Here are a few ideas:
1. If using public transport to get to and from work, and you are able to sit down, it can be a good time to close your eyes, concentrate on correct breathing, and try to shut out the surrounding sounds. Commuting can be a very stressful experience every day of the week, so a snatched meditation session, even in far from ideal conditions, may minimize those negative effects, or even turn them on their head. In fact, it can be good practice to try to meditate in difficult conditions, as that makes ideal conditions even more beneficial later on.
The secret to these train or bus sessions is not to fall asleep, and to concentrate extra hard on maintaining the focus.
2. Do you go to a gym or health spa? Whether at lunch time or in the evening, this can be a good time to tag on a short meditation session. If you have finished your work out, you need some time to shower and relax your body a bit. Following that with a 10 minute or more period of meditation could work wonders. Most gyms or health spas will have a room you can use for a short spell of peace, so it is worth asking. A vacant massage room would serve the purpose.
3. Control your diary, and schedule in a mid morning and mid afternoon “tea or coffee” break. Only instead of tea and coffee, drink water, sit comfortably, focus on your breathing and then when totally relaxed, have a short session of meditation, focusing on something calming and not related to work. Even 10 minutes can provide a power inducing respite from the day’s work, and the chances are you will not lose time, but rather gain time, as you will work more effectively.
Snatched meditation sessions spread through the day may not be the stuff of traditional meditation, but they are certainly better than none at all. Hopefully, the rejuvenated executive will perceive enough benefits to set aside time in the evenings and weekends to learn full meditation, and then be able to return to work at the top of is game every weekday morning.

I’ve been there, right where you might find yourself today: unfulfilled, unappreciated, unhappy and unable to make my life different. No matter how much I gave of myself all day long, at home and at work and in the community, it was never enough.
No matter how exhausted I was at the end of the day, I was never able to pat myself on the back for all the good things I had done that had led me to that exhaustion.
I watched my three beautiful babies asleep in their beds. I saw my real estate sales go through the roof. I saw the smiles on faces all around and I knew I must have within me something very good.
And yet I never celebrated. I failed to celebrate myself. I failed to celebrate life. And as all the good things that were right there within my reach slipped away, I felt empty and inadequate.
My personal journey has involved some pretty daunting obstacles along a steep learning curve, but I eventually emerged as a woman who knows her own power and has learned to love herself and the world. Once I learned the secret of a truly celebrated life, I became a fully celebrated woman, and I’ve never looked back.
I am convinced of the potential women have to make the world a better place. That is why I realized a long-time dream to develop an organization to support and assist other women through the same experience. Along with my wonderful partner, Michael Robinson, I founded Women Celebrations. It’s a national organization for women to celebrate their lives fully.
I have identified and overcome my own obstacles, and I see myself today as a potential source of positive energy for everyone -; especially each woman -; I encounter. I explain my own journey to self-fulfillment and success with this affirmation: “With the help of so many, I am raising my level of consciousness to experience all that comes my way. In a healthy frame of mind, I face and release my fear, manifesting wonder and good things to myself and those around me.”
I have looked around, and I’ve seen hundreds and thousands of women, uncelebrated, empty, frazzled and confused, and I’ve made the commitment to give them a way to learn to be celebrated too.
That’s what my organization offers: an opportunity to learn what it means to be fully celebrated; what steps women can take to reach that goal; and how they can live their lives, day in and day out, in a way that will keep the celebration alive.

You may travel the world in search of the most glamorous locations, but sometimes theres no place like home.
Its winter time again, and while some folks are ready to reside indoors, its time for all landscape photographers to gather their winter gear and start the quest for some great seasonal images.
For many of us, the greatest joy in photography is to travel to far-away lands, seeking idyllic locations, that we can only dream about, and then do our very best to capture them. But do we need to travel to capture perfect sights? All around us are places of beauty waiting to be captured and we pass them every day.
We dont need to go to great expense or travel thousands of miles; dramatic places are found in every corner of every land. But then I do have one of the worlds best locations on my doorstep: the west coast of Ireland.
While the wet weather can keep me indoors for weeks on end, the winter months bring harsh, but inspiring light, where a rugged Irish Landscape thrives.
No more so than a scenic National Park, five miles outside Killarney town, on the west coast of Ireland. Killarney National Park, filled with towering hills and romantic lakes, still remains one of Irelands most unspoiled treasures.
Its one of those places where my senses come alive; its varied landscape and rugged, yet accessible, mountain range, is a favourite spot with many and a place where I like to spend a lot of time. Its shapely mountain peaks make it a perfect spot to photograph, especially during the cold and icy winter months.
All we need in photography is a different approach. Each season brings its own elements, and winter is no exception. Using our photography skills at the correct time of day can vastly improve our pictures. If you are serious about photography, dawn is the time to be up and about. At this hour, the colours of the sky cast a brilliant orange-red hue that will add mood and character to any setting.
There are also other elements which make winter special. An early morning ramble through the woods can be a perfect start to any day. Our forests are full of great photo opportunities, and an early stroll around deserted woodland can be a remarkable experience.
Rivers and valleys are also prime locations for early morning snaps. If a damp day is followed by a cold night there may be some low-lying mist hanging around. Mist or no mist, an early start works best.
Last light of the day is also an excellent time to be out and about. The evening sun can explode a variety of colours across the sky as it sets for the day. If the sun shines at the beginning or the end of the day, the colour of the light will be much warmer, and will lead to a much more dramatic scene.
So as winter looms, I gather my belongings and head west to capture the mood of the harsh Irish winter, and start the quest for new seasonal images. It certainly isnt time to put away the camera. Winter brings plenty of great photo opportunities, tougher conditions to work in, but just as satisfactory as any other season.
Each homeland can be a paradise in its own special way: Ireland is, and Im sure, winter brings special elements to your homeland too.

Its the end of another four year wait the World Cup has rolled around again and this time were off to Germany. On Saturday the 10th of July in Frankfurt, at 3.00pm, England will kick off against Paraguay in the FIFA World Cup group B and now is the time to ask yourself: where will you be?
Frankfurt has a 48000 seat capacity stadium, protected by a translucent roof allowing that early afternoon light to illuminate the players so capacity crowds can be expected. Lets break down stereotypes and show them how to be gracious guests and supportive fans (and still have the team turn out a result on the day).
It might seem like its a long way away, but right about now speculation about team selection, managers, fitness and tantrums will be filling out the sports pages until they wrap right around to become front page news. Weve had our Svengate, is Rooneygate next? How many more upsets are there in the pipeline before even the first ball is kicked off? To make sure you dont miss out, you should be sourcing your tickets to Germany now (http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com).
We are already in the fourth sales stage for tickets to the World Cup, and that means its first come first served. Face prices for group stage matches are set at 35 but you can slide all the way up that scale to 600 for the most expensive seats for the final. Thats face value – and thats if you can find them!
Of course, if youre feeling lucky, you might want to skip buying tickets at all, and simply enter the competition from Barclaycard to win World Cup tickets (http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/worldcup ), and although its a high risk strategy only the Ronaldinhos among us can get away with, you could end up with a pair of tickets to each of the 12 venues to watch a FIFA World Cup match, plus accommodation, flights, a pre-paid MasterCard, and more. There are over 500 runners up prizes too, so even if you miss out on the top prize you could still win tickets to see England play firsthand in Germany.
Its only once every four years that the worlds footballing cream come together to decide who is the best, and that time has come around for us this year would you want to risk missing out? Remember: its also only in Germany that the Golden Shoe can be claimed, the Best Young Player settled (Wayne Rooney or Lionel Messi anyone?) and the tournament Golden Ball awarded and then there is the small matter of the FIFA World Cup trophy itself.
With the pre-World Cup friendlies underway, theres a chance to check out the competition and see who we think will live up to the hype with some of the most combustible teams and wildfire personalities coming to Germany this Summer, you need to be doing your research now so that come the big day you can book your place in the terraces to watch this years heroes and villains break hearts and become legends.

A piece of advice that I’ve always taken to heart when looking after a car was ‘always look after your breaks and tires’. Sound advice as these are obviously two of the most important pieces of safety equipment on any vehicle, and are relatively inexpensive to care for.
To ensure that your tires are always in tip-top condition I suggest you check your tire pressure regularly. It is important that tires are inflated to the correct pressure to ensure the best grip on the road. Remember over-inflated tires will wear more in the center of the tire, whereas under-inflated tires have a tendency to wear more on the outside of the tire. Always check your tire pressure before long trips and make sure the spare tire is in good condition and properly inflated in case of an emergency.
It is also advisable to check your vehicle owner’s handbook for the correct tire pressure for your car in different circumstances. For example, tire pressure can be different if carrying heavy loads or towing trailers for example.
Always check for uneven wear and tear of the tire. As stated previously it is important that the tire is correctly inflated, but other causes of uneven wear include wheel alignment issues. In these instances it is always advisable to have your local garage check out the vehicle.
All tires have tire tread wear indicators, small rubber markers in the tread to show you the minimum depth that your tires tread should be. If you are nearing these markers, its time to replace the tires.
In general it’s always advisable to slow down when going over pot-holes, or try to avoid them if you can. This goes for curbs as well. This will help you increase your tire’s life, reduce the chance of disturbing the alignment of your wheels and generally avoid accidental damage to the tires.
